Our Story

About the Lasley Centre

The Lasley Centre opened its doors at Vint Hill in June 2011 with the goal of providing excellence in dance training for students of Fauquier and surrounding counties. Since that time, our school has grown exponentially and we have relocated to a 9,000 square foot custom-designed state of-the-art facility. Our dancers continue to be selected for prestigious summer intensives with major ballet companies like; ABT, Boston Ballet, Houston Ballet, and San Francisco Ballet, to name a few, and have performed at the Kennedy Center with the Joffrey Ballet, NYCB, and ABT. This year for the first time we watch as our students are recruited into full time professional training programs with major companies.

It is important to us that we provide excellence from the onset of training, to the day that we send them on to major professional programs and companies. Classes for our youngest dancers are fun filled, developmentally appropriate and taught by certified instructors to ensure the safety of their malleable physiques. As they continue, the focus is to promote the growth of the whole person. Our instructors possess the training, technical skills and professional performance experience required to prepare student for careers in the arts, and continually work to ensure that all students, regardless of career goals derive enrichment from their time spent learning with us.

Students at the Lasley Centre benefit from our school-wide emphasis on personal responsibility, both in terms of their practice and performance in the artistic disciplines and with respect to their conduct outside our school. We also value and teach etiquette, proper speaking, and appropriate behavior, gently guiding our students in areas including attire and poise. Finally, we encourage excellent nutritional habits and positive body image, celebrating students’ individuality without reinforcing negative stereotypes.

Our school is a positive place to learn and grow thanks to the combined efforts of students, parents, instructors, administrators, volunteers, and patrons. We hope you will join us in celebrating the arts and in nurturing your artists in our community. To that end, the Lasley Centre is proud to be a founding member of the Centre Company and Piedmont Conservatory for the Arts.
