Core Ballet Sequence

Ballet I
Increases the number of steps, terms, strength, and flexibility. Continued emphasis on technique and expression are applied. Students begin to learn personal responsibility for their own supplies (i.e. shoes, tights, hair supplies etc.) and learn to apply what they are learning individually both in class and at home.

Ballet II
Students continue to expand their repertoire, with additional focus on strength and flexibility. Partnering and Pointe are introduced for students who are a minimum age of 12 and possess the proper strength and placement. Additional types of dance are introduced (i.e. Character, Modern, Music Theory, Jazz, Pilates, etc.) as part of the entire program. Students develop a performance repertoire, and begin to learn choreography.

Ballet III
Students continue to expand their repertoire, with additional focus on strength and flexibility. Ballet IV
Students will possess a full knowledge of dance steps, styles and technique. They will be auditioning for professional summer programs and performing at an advanced level as well as being actively involved in choreography, production, and if desired, student teaching.

Pointe
Beginning pointe students learn how to work correctly and safely in pointe shoes, with a focus on proper alignment of the foot and ankle. Students will develop the foot and ankle strength necessary for more advanced pointe work. Students are also taught how to properly sew and care for their pointe shoes.

Partnering
This class introduces students to classical ballet partnering. Students will learn correct technique for lifts, balances, and turns with a partner.

Ballet for Men & Boys
Focuses on ballet technique that is unique to male dancers, with an emphasis on jumps and turns.

Note: students enrolled in Ballet III and IV are expected to enroll in Modern and Character. Students in Ballet IV are also expected to enroll in Pointe and Partnering.
