The Lasley Centre for the Preforming Arts is proud to include the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum, a breakthrough 9-level program that combines high quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development. The ABT® National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels.
Lasley Centre faculty members have completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary though Level 7 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum, with additional instructors and levels of certification being added each year as part of the Lasley Centre’s commitment to continuing education for its faculty.
Ballet I
Ages: 8+
Instructor(s): Kalie Lasley, Carrie Rodriguez, Courtney Ritter
Description: All of the vocabulary from the previous levels are included with the addition of Level 1 appropriate exercises. As in all of our classes, the curriculum is designed to be fun, challenging, and with the intent of developing a strong, technically sound dancer.
Notes / Requirements: There is a placement prerequisite or equivalent. To take Ballet I, students must have taken Primary C.
Ballet II
Ages: 9+

Description: All of the vocabulary from the previous levels are included with the addition of Level 2 appropriate exercises.
Notes / Requirements: There is a placement prerequisite or equivalent. To take Ballet II, students must have taken Ballet I.
Ballet III
Ages: 10+
Instructor(s): Kalie Lasley, Mark Rubin
Description: All of the vocabulary from the previous levels are included with the addition of Level 3 appropriate exercises. With the addition of pointe work for students with a minimum age of 11 and who have achieved the strength, and placement necessary for pointe work. Character, Modern and Jazz are strongly recommended at this level. YAGP is available to qualifying students.
Notes / Requirements: There is a placement prerequisite or equivalent. To take Ballet III, students must have taken Ballet II.
Ballet III – Pointe & Variations
Ages: Placement by Instructor
Instructor(s): Kalie Lasley, Mark Rubin
Description: Ballet III – Pointe & Variations students learn how to work correctly and safely in pointe shoes, with a focus on proper alignment of the foot and ankle. Students will develop the foot and ankle strength necessary for more advanced pointe work. Students are also taught how to properly sew and care for their pointe shoes.

Ballet IV
Ages: 11+

Description: All of the vocabulary from the previous levels are included with the addition of Level 4 appropriate exercises. Partnering and Variations/Repetoire are added at this level. YAGP is available to qualifying students.
Notes / Requirements: There is a placement prerequisite or equivalent. To take Ballet IV, students must have taken Ballet III.
Ballet V
Ages: 12+

Description: All of the vocabulary from the previous levels are included with the addition of Level 5 appropriate exercises. YAGP is available to qualifying students.

Ballet IV + V – Pointe & Variations
Ages: Placement by Instructor

Description: Ballet IV + V – Pointe & Variations is an advanced class. Ballet IV + V – Pointe & Variations students will learn repertoire from major classical and contemporary works.
Notes / Requirements: Students must be enrolled in Ballet V.
Adult / Teen Ballet
Ages: 13+, with Placement by Instructor

Description: For beginning adults, and transfers from other schools (some ability, but need foundation – slower pace).
Adult classes offer a selection of dance genres, to adults who wish to continue or return to their dance education. Classes are designed to challenge each student at their individual level, increase or regain strength, flexibility, coordination, while fulfilling artistic development, all in a welcoming environment.
Performance opportunities are available for our adult students who wish to participate.

Ballet for Men & Boys
Ages: 8+

Notes / Requirements: Focuses on ballet technique that is unique to male dancers, with an emphasis on jumps and turns.
Ballet Dance Instruction in Northern Virginia
Offering dance classes in many genres, the Lasley Centre is convenient to Prince William County (Bristow, Haymarket, Gainesville, Manassas, and Nokesville areas) and Fauquier County (Warrenton, Bealeton, Marshall, and Remington areas). We also have students who come from Culpeper and surrounding areas.
